ADDICTION COUNSELLING & COACHING
Recovery from addiction to alcohol and/or other drugs is about so much more than merely stopping the use of the drug.
The person has to learn to cope with all the triggers that lead back to the use of the drug as a coping mechanism.
Such triggers include:
people, places and things that remind them of the drugs,
anxiety,
depression,
sadness,
shame,
guilt,
regrets about the past,
fear for the future,
boredom,
damaged relationships,
black and white thinking
to name but a few.

In order to learn and consistently practise the skills to deal with these, abstinence is essential.
If you have been detoxified but are unable to afford a lengthy programme of therapy, this is where counselling and coaching can really help you. Some of you may have undergone a full programme of residential treatment either locally or in another part of the country or even abroad, yet still need professional support.
Involvement with the 12 step Fellowships Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous and Cocaine Anonymous is encouraged. Clients will be given information about times and dates of meetings. Where clients are reluctant to engage with these Fellowships, every effort will still be made to help them at SKY Counselling.
